Mt Grey Building Ltd are one of Canterburys leading experts in SIPs construction and we are passionate about the possibilities this new construction method provides New Zealand homeowners. Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) provide complete design freedom and not only do SIP homes look great, they’re also superior performers.
You can think of a SIP panel like a giant sandwich. In the middle is an expanded polystyrene core which has strand board structurally laminated to either side of it, creating an incredibly high performing building panel for walls, floors and ceilings. By connecting a series of these together, they do away with the traditional framing and batt insulation approach.
Each panel is precision cut in a factory based upon your individual plans then locked together on-site to create an incredibly well insulated home. Depending on your site, entire wall sections can be assembled indoors then craned into place on site. Saving huge amounts of construction time and reducing delays caused by weather.
Mt Grey Building Ltd have built multiple SIP homes in Canterbury and have seen first-hand the benefits this prefabrication method not only provides our clients, but for us as builders too. The panels act as bracing and can span up to 6m, allowing you to create expansive open spaces without the need of unsightly steel portal frames interrupting your design flow.
They are also incredibly well insulated. With a seamless 4-5 R-Rating, your new home will have a much warmer and drier indoor environment. Combined with smart-home functions and automation, you’ll experience an unparalleled ease of living with the added bonus of reduced, long-term running costs.
If you are looking for an efficient construction process and a sustainable home then talk to us about building with SIPs. We can talk you through the process, look at your plans and begin scoping out some options for you. We can even arrange a time for you to walk through some of the SIP homes we've already built.
